Meet Ross

Ross Lockhart for North Dakota

Ross grew up on the family farm just outside of Grandin, ND – a community deeply rooted in agriculture in the heart of the Red River Valley. A graduate of Northern Cass Public School, Ross earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from MSUM and a Master’s degree in International Relations at the University of Kent, Canterbury, UK.

Ross worked in governmental auditing, risk management, and ran a small vegetable farm. He helped found a farmer’s cooperative and hosted farm interns over the course of several growing seasons. After traveling and living in other places, Ross and his family returned over a decade ago to raise a family in rural ND. He now works with his father on the family farm and followed in his mother’s footsteps to coach Speech at Northern Cass. He enjoys carpentry, fixing machines, and reading biographies about his favorite founding father, John Adams.

Twenty years of marriage and being the proud father of a daughter has taught him empathy, how to listen, and cooperation. Ross loves being part of a close family, encouraging young people to find their voice, and hanging out with his dog, Tilde, and two cats, Kirby and Dave.
